This establishment is the testament of perseverance. And
probably great food as well. I remember when I was a teenager, my parents used
to bring us to this tiny stall somewhere in Kampung Titingan (hence the origin
of the name) that cooked really good seafood. Then they moved several times
more before settling down to their current location, largely due to their
inability to contain the pouring customers that had frequented their place at
their previous spots. They’re now residing nicely at Thian Mee Light Industrial
Estate, around the areas of Mile 2 ½ at Apas Road. Unfortunately the restaurant
is not visible from the main road so you do need to go deeper into the Tawau Lama
junction to actually be able to spot them. They also used to have a branch at Taman Univilla before but have since been closed.
After a few years of not coming to the restaurant (mainly
because it’s quite far from where I’m staying now), I was amazed at the current
development of the establishment. I mean, it’s probably the largest seafood restaurant
in Tawau, due to their extension to not one but 4 large sized industrial shops
within the same area. Their food was also as awesome as I’ve remembered. We
ordered their Ikan Masak Goreng Kicap and Ikan Masak 3 Rasa (you can choose your own fish from their large
freezer – which is highly recommended), their Mix-Vegetables, Ayam Masak Mangga
Thai, Butter Prawns as well as a personal Nasi Goreng Kampung for myself.
