Yogurt Drink Special: Yees Yogurt & Taro Yogurt

Originally I was not too fond of drinking yogurt drinks. I find that the yogurt drinks sold in supermarkets has this overly sour tastes (yes, I understand that yogurt was supposed to be sour but still) and a weird aftertaste that I don’t quite like. So I was highly sceptical when a colleague of mine bought me a drink from Yees Yogurt (not knowing about my somewhat disdain for it). But since I don’t want to hurt her feelings, I simply smiled and took a sip of the drink. I admit that the first few sips still did not agree with my tastebuds but after awhile, the taste grew on me. And what was surprising was that there was no aftertaste after drinking it and the taste overall was actually acceptable. So out of curiousity (and suddenly finding myself actually ‘craving’ for it) I went to these two shops that are yogurt drink franchises.

YEES YOGURT

Location: Kubota Sentral commercial area, on the same row as Twentea and GETTO

Facebook page: Yees Yogurt Tawau

Drink that I had: Pistachio Yogurt

This is the drink has had managed to convert me into becoming a yogurt drink drinker. The blend of chunky and salty pistachio pieces together with the sourly taste of yogurt was just really well mixed. I also like the calm and cozy feeling of the place, especially since not that many people tend to patronized the shop. Will be trying other flavours in the future but I kept repeating the latter for some (yummy) reason.

TARO YOGURT

Location: Kubota Sentral commercial area, right in front of Acteasan

Facebook page: Taro Yogurt Tawau

Drink(s) that I had: Calbee Chocolate Yogurt & Strawberry Passion Fruit Tea

Opened just a month or so after its above main competitor (and on the same area no less), this cute shop has more choices on the menu especially for non-yogurt drink drinkers. I was familiar with the Calbee cereal like product so I was curious at how well it will blend with yogurt. Needless to say, it was quite okay tasting (since the sweet, chocolatey taste of said cereal manages to balance out the sour taste) but the cereal became a bit clumpy after awhile, making it hard to suck from its straw.  Oh and my mom had the fruit tea and she said it was nice.
