Outward Vacay: Grandis Hotels & Resorts

Sorry for the month long absence due to overwhelming work and guess what else? I finally got hitched to my partner (aka mr husband now). Yay for me! 😅 So I was back to back busy and didn't have time to do anything else for a whole month afterwards, until now..

I'm just going to give you guys some short (well, somewhat short) reviews on the places that I've been to during my honeymoon trip to where else but Kota Kinabalu (trust me, I've suggested to him for us to go somewhere else but my husband was adamant on completing his annual end of the year KK trip instead).

I have always eyed the Grandis Hotels & Resort whenever we were at Suria Sabah shopping mall (since they're literally attached to them - near to their Jesselton Mall & Residence facing entrance) and since they had a very good promo price during our stay, we decided to give them a try. Their staff were all pretty accommodating and polite throughout so no issues there. Their room was also pretty spacious, as described by numerous patrons before us. Apparently they do have a small door that led directly to the aforementioned mall on the 1st floor (on the same floor as their cafe but more on that later) but due to Mr. Covid, it was temporarily closed. Oh and their rooftop swimming pool was also worth mentioning, even though it might be on the small and (according to my husband) shallow side of things. Overall I'm quite happy with our stay except for one thing. They do provide a RM10 per entry parking lot for in house guests but it was very limited. It would be a good idea for them to implement a free parking system within the mall like Hotel 7 Suria did since the nearby area only has public parkings (where you need to pay your own DBKK tickets or else be summoned) and that were also few and far between.

Type - Deluxe Sea View Room

Room - 4/5 (very spacious although somewhat dimmed lighted)

Price - 4/5 (price has gone up right after the school holidays but we were lucky to get a good price during our stay)

Service - 4/5 (again no problems here)

Decor - 4/5 (I like their modern decor but was hoping that the lighting would be a bit brighter)

Facilities - 4/5 (they might not be as big as other stand alone hotels but they do have bars, gym and conference rooms)

Location - 5/5 (I loved the fact that they're attached to Suria Sabah and just steps away from Jesselton Mall)

*And here are some pics of their rooftop swimming pool, the bar & views...
