First and foremost...

May

Thank you so much for visiting this humble blog of mine. I'll try to give you guys some good reviews on the local food & sceneries especially from my hometown (yay Tawau, Sabah) so please bear with me ok 😊

Oh and just so you guys know before proceeding...

a) I never travel abroad - so you won't be seeing any posts outside of our beloved country (yet!)

b) I take all of my pictures with my smartphone - so no professionally taken photos here as well (sad but true)

c) I dined using my own moolah - so my comments are somewhat unbias (for now)

d) I have this ongoing problem with my internet at home so I can only go online at work (the 'perks' of living at the bottom of a hill)- so I'm sorry beforehand for any comments that cannot be reply timely (my bad)

e) I don't mind if you guys wanted to use any of my pictures - just as long as you credit this blog as well ok 👍

Also due to my own carelessness, I've accidentally deleted most of the photos that I've uploaded to Google Album Archive a few years back. Thankfully I found a way to recover most of them (but not all I'm afraid) albeit in a much lower resolution & quality. So if you're viewing my past posts and there seems to be missing photos from them, I do apologized beforehand for that. I'll try to update them with newer photos should I drop by said places again in the future. So sorry folks... 😢😢😢

So here goes nothing...

Fine Desserts

It amuses me to see how this formerly QCC Baked Tawau franchise (located at Wisma Kasihfy, Jalan Masjid, right behind the Marco Polo Hotel) has started with the brand but has slowly but surely inserted their own brand of baked goods along the way and finally replacing the original with their own stuff completely. Heck, the only thing that is left of the original QCC now are their signature nugget cookies, which were displayed at the lonely far end corner of the shop that unfortunately still (somewhat) uses the franchise's name (but in a more 'small letters' kind of way). It's actually both smart and sad, since I'm more of a QCC fan rather than their current branding. Oh well, guess I have to go to KK again to sample some authentic QCC baked goods, particularly their tarts. Sigh..

But nevetheless, we did tried their version of QCC tarts (at the early stages of the franchise's opening) and some of their own stuff, particularly their Minimalist Cakes set, Dubai Kunafa Slice, Cake in bowl, Nutella Burnt Cheesecake (for the recent Mother's Day) and Pistachios Cheese Cake. Personally I would say that other than the latter (which was just nice by the way), everything else were overly sweet. Like 'potong kaki punya sweet' type of cakes. But they were quite generous with their portioning so I guess something positive came out of it after all. Plus, locals seems to prefer their current baked goods and pastries better so I admit that I'm in the small minority that preferred otherwise.

The Petite Cafe

May

Found them one day through a random Google search (yup, I'm old school that way), I was initially attracted by the overall warm vibe of the place, since it's a baker-turn-cafe types of eatery (hence the signage that said The Petite Baker outside their venue). So off we went to Taman Perdagangan Tanjong, the junction just opposite of the Umami Garden at Jalan Sungai Tanjong. I don't know whether it was me but the vibe that me and my hubby had gotten as we walked into the place was err.. less than welcoming I guess? Probably because we were not their usual clientele (Chinese customers) so the owners were generally ignoring us unlike with other such patrons. Which was unfortunate since the food were actually delicious. We had their Cheesy Chicken Rice Bowl, Cheesy Popcorn Fries, Choc-Choc Hurray Waffle and Ramen Omelette. The latter was my fave, as I've seen them being prepared by other Youtubers before and it was yummy. Now would I go back again? I'm not sure... maybe.. we'll see..

Restoran Paradise Cafe

Can't exactly remember when me and hubby went to this eatery located within Fajar Complex (again),   beside a KFC branch and on the same row as CelcomDigi Store. But we were on an errand nearby and the eatery was nearest to us at said time so we just went in without thinking much of it. My hubby ordered their Roti Cobra Daging (I think? ) while I had their Nasi Minyak with Ayam Tandoori (I guess? Sorry, the older you get the 'rustier' your memories become 😅) Both were just okay in tastes but satisfying enough for me to tapau their roti canai to go. Plus, the place seems to be pretty popular amongst locals so they must be doing something right, right?
