Sushi Panda Imago (KK FoodieVenture #243)

Okay so here are one of two quick posts on places that had actually managed to elude my eyes when I was updating about my last KK trip & had only realized it as I went through the pics in my photo gallery 🤦‍♀️

Me and hubby had actually went to the Sushi Panda Imago Shopping Mall kiosk (on the 2nd floor of said mall) and even though my hubby seems to loved them, I personally think that their sushis were just okay both in taste and quality. I liked their Chicken Ham Teriyaki, Cheesy California Roll and Tamago Mentai sushis but the others were just so-so. But if you're looking to munch on something that are not that heavy at wallet-friendly pricing, than try this place out.

1901 Centre Point (KK FoodieVenture #234)

I was somewhat surprised to find this franchised American hotdog inspired kiosk as me and my hubby were walking around the Food Eden court on the 5th floor of Centre Point Shopping Mall (adjoining to the Growball Cineplex). It's been years (and I mean YEARS) since I had one from this franchise so we decided to ordered their Mighty Mubarak Wrap and Coney Chicken Dog on the spot. Honestly speaking, I can't exactly recall the taste of said hotdog from before but the one that I've tried was pretty satisfying (even though the sauce was a bit runny). The wrap that my hubby had was also pretty good, kind of like the wrap version of the latter (well obviously right?). Not great or anything but still very yummy. Wouldn't mind ordering them again in the future now that I've found them.

Warung NS Family

Since I went to this stall sometime late last year, I'm too sure if they're still around now. But according to my hubby (who was the one that had  originally 'discovered' this stall) they seems to still be active on Tiktok (their main form of social media which I do not have but my hubby has so I'm just going to take his word for it) so I'm just going to go ahead with this post.

The location of the stall might be a bit tricky since it isn't visible from the main road and you need to go further into the Kampung Sentosa, Hilltop area to actually find them (but we found them just fine with the help of multiple Tiktok posts from local patrons including this one - apparently they're really popular on said platform). And since this is only a small stall beside a house, seats were limited and so was their menu items. We tried their Set Talam Ikan Goreng, Gado-gado and Bakso Kulit Ayam and all were actually quite good but not that outstanding. You guys should give them a try at least to see whether or not you agree with me since I kid you not when I say that the amount of local social media promo that this stall had gotten were pretty mind blowing.

** Current status - Still in operation (as of May 2024)

The Warung Kepayan (KK FoodieVenture #215)

To closed off my KK trip foodieventure this time around is this locally popular stall. My hubby is a huge fan of Nasi Kuning (as you can later see in my Sandakan entry as well) so we went to Jalan Pahlawan, Kepayan (near the Sabah Contingent Police Headquarters) just to try out their version of said dish. Seats were limited if you went there during peaks hour (which usually is around lunchtime) and their parking spaces were even more limited than that. Both of us decided to try out their best known dishes (the Nasi Kuning Ayam & Nasi Kuning Ikan respectively) and while the tastes were quite good, there were others that might be even tastier out there. But their big portioning was probably the best there is as you get your money's worth.

Terowong Street (Semporna FoodieVenture #14)

We were looking for a place to have dinner when a friend suggested this place to us. Although I have passed by the area a couple of times during my other previous trips to Semporna, I never thought that the place would actually be so vibrant. Located at Kg Cina Pekan (right beside the still-in-development building next to Green World Hotel), this night market actually comprises of 3 main sections; the clothing stalls, food stalls and entertainment stalls which includes a haunted house (yes... a haunted house).

Me and my husband pretty much circle the food area several times (just to ogle at everything) before deciding to order from a stall which sells various local cuisine. We ordered their fancy name dishes such as Nasi Goreng Shanghai and Nasi Goreng Samurai. But alas, fancy names doesn't necessarily translate to fancy taste as both dishes were just so-so in my opinion. We were also enticed by a Luk-luk stall (you know, that snacks-on-a-stick type of finger food) and a chocolate ice-cream stall but again, both 'appetizers and dessert' were just okay at best. Nevertheless we still enjoy the overall vibe of the place, since it feels really lively without being overly crowded.

Nasi Anje 1 Imago (KK FoodieVenture #192)

I have read about the name Nasi Anje in passing from other posts before so when me and my husband were checking out the 2nd floor food court of Imago Shopping Mall (also known as Food Street) for any new vendors, we were delighted to see the Nasi Anje 1 stall in operation. From what I can gather from my internet sleuthing, the stall originally opened a shop somewhere in Inanam Sentral before branching out to KK.

The name of their dishes amuses both of us so we ended up ordering their Nasi Anje Single set and Kahwin set (one guess which one was my pick 😆). Obviously the single set refers to the single fried chicken, with the rice drenched in curry sauce plus a side of sambal. The only differences with my dish were the choice of chickens; one fried chicken plus one curry chicken. In all honesty, the fried chicken was just ordinary tasting but I do think that their selling point were the curry sauce and sambal. Having both of them together definitely elevated my dining experience of said dish even more. We also had a helping of their Sayur Sutera as a side order and even though the portion was quite generous, it was just so-so in taste in my opinion.

Wagon Imago (KK FoodieVenture #189)

After my Hazukido stop, I thought that I had enough late night snacks for the day but as it turns out, there is still room in my tummy for an American styled hotdog. Also located on the lower ground floor of Imago shopping mall, within the sea of food kiosks (they're in front of the the Teppanya branch); I had always had my eyes on them especially when I read about them through an FB post. So I said 'why not' and had gone for their Grilled Cheese and Mushroom 17 hotdogs respectively (and no, I'm not eating for two.. my roommate also wanted to try them out). Mine was the latter and I think it was pretty tasty and savoury; kind of reminds me of A&W's legendary hotdogs. There are other rice and fries combos that are available within the menu that I will probably try out during my next KK trip so watch this space.
