The Cove Coffee

Assuming that this cafe is the rebranding of sorts to its predecessor at Kubota Sentral commercial area (since I've noticed the same crew still running the cafe as when they're previously known as Kobo Coffee), adding some heavier meals into their menu and a wider variety of pastries does the trick of attracting new customers (us included of course). We've tried their Creamy Butter Chicken rice and Spaghetti Bolognese with Fried Chicken and both were pretty tasty. But my personal fave has got to be their big Chocolate Tart as it was decadent and very chocolatey. It's a shame that I can't seem to find them anymore as of late as I have been buying them on regular basis. So here's to hoping that they will bring it back again in the future for fans such as moi

MOOD Coffee & Sausage

It's pretty rare to see a local eatery that sells actual American styled hotdogs (or at least ala A&W) so I was surprised when I first saw their menu via Foodpanda. And after ordering a few times from them (such as their Meehoon Siam with Sambal, New York Classic Hotdog and Italian Style Hotdog - the latter being my current fave) I finally decided to stopped by their actual store at Kubota Sentral (they're located on the far end row, the one nearest to Bintang Kubota commercial area) during lunchtime. That time I'd ordered their Chicken Burger plus some cheesy wedges and a Triple Dark Choco drink and all were tasty and satisfying. They've even recently expanded their menu with rice based dishes and some other Western dishes but I haven't tried them out so stay tuned for that.

Warung NS Family

Since I went to this stall sometime late last year, I'm too sure if they're still around now. But according to my hubby (who was the one that had  originally 'discovered' this stall) they seems to still be active on Tiktok (their main form of social media which I do not have but my hubby has so I'm just going to take his word for it) so I'm just going to go ahead with this post.

The location of the stall might be a bit tricky since it isn't visible from the main road and you need to go further into the Kampung Sentosa, Hilltop area to actually find them (but we found them just fine with the help of multiple Tiktok posts from local patrons including this one - apparently they're really popular on said platform). And since this is only a small stall beside a house, seats were limited and so was their menu items. We tried their Set Talam Ikan Goreng, Gado-gado and Bakso Kulit Ayam and all were actually quite good but not that outstanding. You guys should give them a try at least to see whether or not you agree with me since I kid you not when I say that the amount of local social media promo that this stall had gotten were pretty mind blowing.

Newland Cafe and Restaurant

Although intially the newly finished Kuhara Industrial area was meant for industrial purposes, local business owners has proven to be quite creative in utilizing the relatively big spaces and spawned several eateries including this one (located at the far end of the area, facing the Hotspring commercial area).

We've been here a few times now (so do excuse my not-too-current photos of the place) and I would say that I enjoyed it there. We've tried several of their food such as their Newland Beef Burger, Cheesy Nachos, Kam Heong Mee Hoon, Salted Vegetables Soup, Nasi Goreng Kampung & Hash Brown and there were all lovely. My hubby loves their nachos so much so that he even ordered an extra takeaway for it. The overall ambience was also very comfortable and they even open a play ground of sorts at their 1st floor for kids to enjoy.

San Da Gen Kopitiam (Sandakan FoodieVenture #11)

Last but not least we have this iconic place from my trip to Sandakan. This eatery has been recommended my numerous food bloggers and Tiktokers that I just had to try them out. Although parking might be a challenge since they're located right in the middle of the (old) main town area at Lebuh Dua, patrons specially tourists still manages to make their way there (us included of course). I dig the whole nostalgic Hong Kong vibe of the eatery and since they only have a huge, single chalkboard as a menu, it is completely natural for almost everyone to be standing in front of it just to pick out the menu items (even though I find this amusing). We eventually ordered their Mee Siam and Nasi Lemak Ayam Berempah and both were commendable. The eatery is also well known for their UFO tarts but I was not in the mood for one so instead I opted for their Egg Tart and it was yummy and crispy.
