Mylk Cafe

I FINALLY got my phone back from the authorized service centre just last week hence I wasted no time in trying the camera out at this cafe, in the newly developed Garden City commercial area (the building next to Bataras Hypermarket at Perdana Jaya). This cafe was one of many, many eateries that had been wiped off from my phone's original memories, so I did feel somewhat sheepish as I 'stealthily' took some pics at said place (again).

I previously have tried out their Chicken Nasi Arab (see below) but this time around I thought that the overall taste lacked something. Nevertheless it is still pretty good; it's just that for some reason I thought that it tasted much better before. I also can't possibly resist their Peanut Butter Brownies with Ice Cream (my fave combination of main ingredients EVER!) and it was definitely lovely. The choco taste was just nice while the peanut butter complimented the brownie perfectly.

Mihimihi Tawau

Nope, my main phone is still not back from its 'phone hospital' (aka main service centre in KL) so unfortunately I'm doing this with my spare emergency phone. So do expect a more low quality pictures below ok.

It's a bit sad to see that several eateries in the Kubota Sentral area has recently closed their doors permanently (and I was supposed to be blogging about them already if my phone was not giving me continuous troubles). But it is not suprising either since Tawau people has this habit of crowding any new outlet during its opening week like crazy before dispersing into thin air.

And one such places that (by the looks of it) is also 'endangered' of closing is this snack franchise (located right in front of the Kubota Sentral's One Stop branch). Never tried any French puff pastries before but their products are actually pretty tasty. The Dark Belgian Chocolate, Hazelnut and Strawberry (not in the pics) has crunchy and crumbly texture while the flavoured creams were not too sweet and err... creamy. They also have a selection of in house drinks to choose from to go with your pastries. But I guess the somewhat steep pricing (at least by Tawau's standards) might be one of the reasons why the place lacks customers as of late. Hopefully they can hold on as long as they can since it will be a shame if they closed their doors now.

Such is life...

Man... my luck with smartphones seems to be getting from bad to worse these days. Barely 4 months after purchasing a new one since my previous one took a dive into a washing machine (literally), this one suddenly stops working out of nowhere and generally had to be fixed and wiped off AGAIN, taking with it all of the precious pictures that I've acquired recently. And not learning from my previous experiences and probably underestimating that it will happen again this soon, I stupidly did not do a back up of sorts. Yup, no one else to blame for that one but myself 😔

It bugs the hell out of me that I have some really good materials in that phone (particularly supposed posts on my recent trip to Sandakan, a place that I rarely go to and won't again for maybe a couple more years) but such is life. So like before, I'll probably will be in quiet mode for a while until everything is sorted out. And since I'm back at using my puny spare smartphone, you'll probably see lesser quality photos in several of my future posts (if any). Until then.. 🥲🥲

Ice Idea Dessert Cafe

Barely minutes after finishing my lunch at Mr & Mrs Spicy, I took a few steps on the same block (in the middle section of the Kubota Sentral commercial area) and came across this dessert cafe. My tongue suddenly wanted something cool to neutralized the semi hot (and by that I mean heat, not spicy) dish that I just had. So without much of a thought, I found myself already seating inside the cafe.

I took a peek at another solo patron right in front of my table and deducted that since she was having a small sized ice shaved dessert and it was rather err.. small, I decided to go for the larger version of the Chocolate Snow Ice + Choco Grains + Peanuts, thinking that it might not have that much of a difference in terms of size. But lo and behold, my ice dessert came as if it was going to be eating by at least 2 people (and do not let the pics below fooled you). I kid you not when I said that a trio of secondary school kids right next to me actually chuckled when they realized my predicament. Thankfully my stomach was working in full capacity that day and I had miraculously finished the whole thing. Even the next table kids were looking pretty impressed in the end. So the moral of the story is... do not underestimate a snow ice dessert I guess. 😅
