Twins Seafood Restaurant 1Arena

It was a coincidence that the moment I decided to post about this restaurant, is also the day that I read about their intention to sell said business to the public. Me and my husband had actually went to their restaurant sometime last month and judging by their nonexistent customers at said time, it was actually not too surprising. I mean, the competition has been really stiff nowadays so it is quite understandable for them to decide on such things (although they did say that they're closing this branch because they wanted to relocate to Semporna - so who knows right). But do not fret as they actually have another outlet open within the Taman Sawit Balung commercial area, even if this branch is closing soon (their located within the single 1Arena Commercial Centre row of shops by the way).

Also the impending closure did not actually reflect on the quality of their cooking though, as our meals were actually quite delicious. They're mainly a seafood restaurant so it was not that surprising to see their somewhat above average pricing. But we tried out their Kam Heong Clams, Wet Butter Crabs and Stirred Fried Mixed Vegetables and all were pretty satisfying to eat. Even the Nasi Goreng Kampung that I ordered for myself was quite tasty so it will be a lost not having them in town in the future.

The Garden

Me and my husband had actually visited this hidden open aired eatery called The Garden way in January (sorry for the late posing) so I'm not too sure whether they're still open or not (since they don't even have a FB page that I know of). But just in case they are, they're located somewhere within the Sin Onn Tiku area, right before the road leading up to the local hiking area called the Lim Man Kui Quarry. For a more detailed direction, you guys can check out this post made by the Love Tawau FB page admins.

Personally I really like the whole environment of the place. It definitely screams 'santai' what with the homey feel (because we are technically  dining at someone else's lawn) plus a great hilltop view of the sunset. And although the food selection were not as wide as expected, the ones that were available were pretty good. We tried their Ikan Bakar Sambal, Kam Heong Grilled Prawns, Four Season Beans with some Fried Rice & Fried Mee Hoon and all were savoury and tasty. We were actually hoping to sample their Grilled Chicken Wings as well but those were only available during the weekends. Oh and they do served alcohol beverages in this establishment so muslims might want to take note on that.

** Current status - Still in operation (as of June 2022)

** By the way, this is Buster (I believe) the owner's friendly dog saying hello to us before being 'scolded' away for strolling around at the front when he was supposed to be at the back of the house 😅
