Sedaaap Chicken Rice

Another eatery that me and my partner had went to before MCO even started is this one which despite its name, has a wide variety of local dishes served. Tucked within the commercial area of Taman Megah Jaya (they’re within the area facing Jalan Tiku, not the one nearest to Bataras Hypermarket) the restaurant made its way onto my food radar due to several posts made by some friends of mine via social media (yup, what are friends for right?).

The place was quite comfortable and fully air-conditioned, while the food that we had tasted were pretty satisfying as well. My partner was curious about their namesake dish so he ordered a single portion of the Crispy Roasted Chicken Rice while I went for something that I rarely do which was ordering the Curry Mee Hoon (as I’m not too fond of soupy dishes – well… on most days anyway). Both of us thought that our dishes were quite good but ‘ordinary’ since we both agreed that we have tasted better versions of the respective food. But then again, it was worth a try since they do have other tasty sounding dishes available that we have not tried yet.

Snow II Taman Semarak

I think I have mentioned it in my previous post of its predecessor (the Snow café) that it did irked me a bit when I discovered that they’d opened a branch nearer to my house, merely days after I’ve visited the latter. And even though the pictures that I’ve taken of the place were all pre-MCO, I did dropped by their rather tiny establishment (within the commercial area in front of Taman Semarak called Taman Sejati – they’re on the same row as Chatime and is more visible from the main road) quite a few times during the CMCO and RMCO (these initials amuses me for some reason 😆). They provide almost everything originally available from their main branch such as the Peanut Butter Waffle and Nutella Banana Waffle that I had (which were both crispy and yummy – my personal faves). Other than waffles, they also have other light snacks such as fried fritters and toasts, as well as an assortment of juices, ice shaved desserts and other hot and cold drinks. And if you’re feeling rather famished, they also have Fried Chicken Chop and Fish and Chips to satisfy your hunger.

Kafeteria Annur Maju

Here’s yet another place that me and my partner had frequented pre-MCO (but I'm not too sure whether they’re currently on for business or not since I haven’t had the chance to drive by the area recently). This very simple eatery started out as a warung and had successfully outgrown their humble shack into an upgrade version of what it is today. Mind you, it is mainly because of its strategic location (being right behind the Land and Surveys Tawau Department at Jalan Tanjung Batu) which is coincidentally a short walk from the Tawau District Police Headquarters (where very hungry police officers tend to stop by and basically lepaking after a hard days work).

Other customers usually crowd the place in the morning for their Mee Tauhu, Nasi Lemak and Nasi Kuning (like what me and my partner usually did during some weekends) but they do have other menu items for lunch and dinner (if I’m not mistaken) which includes the Nasi Goreng, Nasi Lalap, Roti Canai and soupy dishes among other things. Unfortunately we can only comment about their morning staples since we have yet to visit the place during other times of the day and overall, it was pretty good. Their food were among the better ones out there when it comes to breakfast but not the best there is. Also, portioning might also be an issue for patrons with bigger capacity bellies as their food tend to be within the small – medium size.

Bread First

Although I have been to several new eateries during these trying RMCO times, I’d also discovered (as I was sweeping through my laptop folders) that I still have a couple of other eateries that I’ve been to pre-MCO that needed to be posted first.

It was mainly curiosity that brought me and my mom here (and have since been there a number of times), which was located within the Kubota Sentral commercial area (they’re on the row facing Magic Station). Their name itself was already pretty intriguing so when both of us went in, we found out that not only that the family run shop provides freshly baked breads and pastries daily, but also pre-cooked breakfast food such as the ever popular Nasi Kuning and Mee Tauhu. My mom in particular was pretty happy to find a delicious Chinese Mee Tauhu (as most of the shops in town were run by Malay entrepreneurs) for our breakfast (hence the repeated visits). I’ve also tried a couple of their pastries and it was definitely fresh, fluffy and yummy. They also sell lunchtime dishes (by using the Menu of the Day concept), some pre-packed low calories meals (for those who’re health conscious) as well as some Western types of breakfast food should you’re not into the latter. Oh and do take note that the eatery usually closes around 3or 4pm (but I’m not too sure if the time still stands during RMCO).
