Another eatery that I've 'accidentally' left out the other day is this food court at the Sembulan area, right next to Grace Garden Condominiums. Honestly I was impressed by the variety of kiosks that were available on site, both for food and drinks. I mean, they really have different types of food being offered such as porridge, fried chicken, pizzas, seafood shellout dishes, specialty dishes, local pastries and even cakes & baked goods. Moreover the place isn't as crowded as other food courts that I've been to (at least when we were there), probably because of the somewhat secluded area from the main KK town area. We've tried out the Nasi Lemak Berlauk dishes from the Nasi Briyani Pak Yan stall as well as take away some Baby Kunafa & Kunafa Chocolate Bar from Rasa Sweet stall (which I'd totally forgotten to take any pics of the actual kunafa & choco bar - my bad) and the former were tasty indeed. I definitely recommended everyone to try the place out if you're within the area.

Labels: food, food courtMe and hubby dearest frequented this place (located at Jalan Sungai Tanjong, right in front of a badminton & futsal court) but it only occurred to me just recently that I have not reviewed them yet. Yup, sometimes you can be that absent-minded.. And it was a shame as well since there were some pretty good stalls that had already closed down.
Going back a few years ago, the eatery was originally a steamboat restaurant before it converted into a regular Chinese restaurant and now a food court with a regular restaurant and several outsourced stalls. And it does help that they'd also fully renovated the place into the modern, lovely hangout place that it is now. Most recently there's an authentic Indonesian food stall that had opened which we had tried out and was delicious. But we'd also previously tried a bunch of other food such as fried rice, satays, grilled chickens, grilled beef skewers, ramens and so on. And if none of the stalls piqued your interest then you can also order regular restaurant food via the sole drinking station (since the owner of the eatery also owns both the drinks and main restaurant). A great hangout place for large groups of people too since the restaurant is huge.
** Current status - Still in operation (as of August 2024)
So the highlight of my most recent journey to KK has got to be to EG Mall, Inanam particularly its Kawan Kawan Food Centre at the ground floor level of said mall (it's pretty hard to miss since it is the first thing that you will see upon entry). Me and my husband were very impressed with the overall layout and huge spacing of the place. I mean, imagine an (almost) entire floor dedicated to food & beverages! Choices for food and drinks were abundant, making both of us spoilt for choice.
After looking around the area a couple of times (and making other people look at us 'suspiciously') we settled on several things. My husband went to the larger HK Seafood Restaurant stall for some Nasi Campur (aka Chap Fan - I refuse to name it Economy Rice because sometimes the price is nothing but 'economy'. But don't worry, the ones there were still pretty affordable) because he was hungrier than me. I on the other hand, am not interested in heavy duty food and decided to go to the Pak Mund Laksa stall instead and ordered some Asam Fishballs. It has a Penang style laksa soup which was nice and not too spicy. After that, I went to Teahee and ordered for myself a Lychee Peach Tea just because I saw them on our way in. Pretty refreshing I might add. But what I was most looking forward to try was the croquettes from the Tokyo Korokke stall. I have never in my life tried croquettes (much less a Japanese version) before so it was both an interesting and delicious experience. I've tried their Veggie and Curry Cheese variety and both were very yummy, with the former being my fave (only because the curry one tasted exactly like a currypuff).
