ZUS Coffee Tawau

Fine, I'll be the first to admit that I'm not exactly a big fan of ZUS Coffee. Tried their drinks a couple of times and nothing has won me over (thus far). I mean, their drinks were okay but a bit too light tasting and milky for my personal liking. BUT their ever growing variety of food selections were quite good. My personal faves are their Nasser's Nasi Lemak Ayam Rendang (yes, that Airasia meal) and Mushroom Melt Sandwich.

Currently there are 3 ZUS Coffee outlets here in Tawau (that spawned almost at the same time. Coincidence? Maybe.. maybe not..). The one that my colleagues (whom are almost all ZUS enthusiasts) frequented is their T2 @ Apas outlet due to its prime hangout vibes and ample parking spaces. But I personally prefer the Kubota Sentral outlet since I like walking around the surrounding shops whenever I stayed at one of the hotels nearby (my go to place for some staycation). The least favoured one has got to be the Garden City outlet, mostly because of the impossible parking, as it is a very popular but also very small commercial area.

AeroLounge Amber Park Porridge

Themed restaurants always intrigues me as we don't have many of those here in little Tawau. Well... actually we had a few before but all had long been closed down. So this aviation themed restaurant at Tawau Plaza, Jalan Kuhara (right on top of City Grocer supermarket - yes, that City Grocer) was definitely something that I have been looking forward to visit for awhile now but hadn't until recently due to their opening hours (they used to have a lunch break but is now open from 12pm till 8pm daily).

Their menu items consist of mainly their food from when they're formerly known as only Amber Park Porridge (where they previously open shop at you've guessed it - Amber Park and then at Taipan before moving to their current location) but they have also added other local dishes throughout the years. Me and hubby tried their Sup Tulang, Gado-gado and even some Siew Mai and all were pretty delicious. And although they have limited spacing (even without the airlines themed decor) people still hosts parties at the venue every so often, likely due to its themed that even extends to their waitresses uniforms which was cute.

Bakeology Cafe

I've actually been to this cafe a couple of times mainly for their pastries such as the popular Cake-in-Bowl (they even have a kunafa version which I really like) as well as their version of the Crunchpy (I would like to think that they're inspired by Suka Desserts line of desserts). But I'm always curious about their savoury dishes so one afternoon I decided to try out their social media recommended Soto Ayam. Personally I think it was just average tasting but at least it's affordable. I've also tried out their Nasi Goreng Bakeology as a takeaway (sorry, I totally forgot to snap any pics) and it was also just so-so. I think my expectations were high since their pastries were their real strength, what with its decadent taste and generous portions. Oh and I almost forgot to mentioned that they're located within the Kubota Sentral commercial area, right in front of a One Stop store (formerly where Mihimihi is).
