AeroLounge Amber Park Porridge

Themed restaurants always intrigues me as we don't have many of those here in little Tawau. Well... actually we had a few before but all had long been closed down. So this aviation themed restaurant at Tawau Plaza, Jalan Kuhara (right on top of City Grocer supermarket - yes, that City Grocer) was definitely something that I have been looking forward to visit for awhile now but hadn't until recently due to their opening hours (they used to have a lunch break but is now open from 12pm till 8pm daily).

Their menu items consist of mainly their food from when they're formerly known as only Amber Park Porridge (where they previously open shop at you've guessed it - Amber Park and then at Taipan before moving to their current location) but they have also added other local dishes throughout the years. Me and hubby tried their Sup Tulang, Gado-gado and even some Siew Mai and all were pretty delicious. And although they have limited spacing (even without the airlines themed decor) people still hosts parties at the venue every so often, likely due to its themed that even extends to their waitresses uniforms which was cute.

Bakeology Cafe

I've actually been to this cafe a couple of times mainly for their pastries such as the popular Cake-in-Bowl (they even have a kunafa version which I really like) as well as their version of the Crunchpy (I would like to think that they're inspired by Suka Desserts line of desserts). But I'm always curious about their savoury dishes so one afternoon I decided to try out their social media recommended Soto Ayam. Personally I think it was just average tasting but at least it's affordable. I've also tried out their Nasi Goreng Bakeology as a takeaway (sorry, I totally forgot to snap any pics) and it was also just so-so. I think my expectations were high since their pastries were their real strength, what with its decadent taste and generous portions. Oh and I almost forgot to mentioned that they're located within the Kubota Sentral commercial area, right in front of a One Stop store (formerly where Mihimihi is).

SG Kitchen

This is another place that me and my hubby had accidentally discovered while trying to go to another eatery (that has unfortunately been closed down for good even before I managed to review them). They're located at Tacoln Commercial Complex (akak Fajar Complex, directly facing the 1Homeware building) and serves Singaporean chicken rice and other dishes. And you know what, it was probably the best decision that we had made since we absolutely loved their food. We've tried a couple of their dishes on different occasions including their signature Chicken Rice set (their Quarter Chicken Breast & Wings set to be exact) Crab Meat Fried Rice, Kampung Fried Rice, Dry Chilli Hot Bean Chicken, Singapore Fried Beehoon, Beef Fried Kuey Teow with Osim Egg amongst other things and we were happy with their delicious dishes (albeit a bit too oily at times). But still, a must try if you're in the area.

Le Petit Amour

I'm always partial to small & unique eateries and this happens to be one of such places. Located on the lower floor of a house at Taman Wong Siew Khiun, Jalan Kuhara, this is another oldies vibe place that you can hangout with family and friends whilst surrounded by antiques. I loved the fact that they seemed to baked their own baked goods and pastries (which accentuated the homely feel more) but me and my hubby decided to try their Kimchi Chicken Fried Rice and Grilled Chicken Garlic Fried Rice instead, together with some Chinese Carrot Cake. All in all we were happy with our dishes, both simple yet flavorful. The carrot cake however were just okay but their lovely Mocha and Chocolate drinks managed to make up for it.
