Chicholic

Yup, this is my fifth post in a row and I'm just going to go at it until I ran out of free time (again - which might be sooner than later).

So I went to this local fast food eatery while sending my hubby to the Permai Polyclinics next door at Taman Megah Jaya, Jalan Tiku commercial area (no worries.. he just had the usual fever). He wasn't in the mood to eat anything heavy due to his health so we just went into this place so he can munched on something like the 8pc Chicken Mini Sausages and 5pc Chicken Tenders. It was pretty good, particularly the latter since I didn't think that it would be as big as it was (trust me, the chicken strips were not your typical KFC sized strips). And since I was famished at the time, I've ordered myself their Nasi Ayam Sos BBQ and it was okay. It was literally the same chicken but with a BBQ sauce topping. Also if you're not in the mood for fast food style chickens, then they do offer a variety of Curry Mee and Mee Sup should you're interested. Overall I would say, not bad for a new local fast food joint.

The Pantry by October

I know that I had missed my chance to post about this place last October (for pun purposes) but better late than never I guess. I've read somewhere that the owner of this relaxing cafe right next to Rooms Hotel, Kubota Square is actually a Korean living here in Tawau so I guess it makes sense that the staff will 'Annyeonghaseyo' you at the door even though the menu items were that of fusion snacks and drinks. And my personal fave has got to be their Korean Street Toast, as I have had them a couple of times already. It's a simple and delicious toast, just the way I like them. I've also had their Black Sesame Sauce Chicken Sandwich and Brownies and they were lovely. And although the G-Dragon Juice were not named after the Kpop icon himself (it was more of a creative spin to their dragonfruit + peach juice), it was still a tasty and freshing drink to have in a cozy cafe setting. Oh and that beautiful mural inside the cafe was also drawn by the owner himself. Pretty talented guy I must say.

Chagee T2 @ Apas

You know what they say.. good things comes in three. Or so I said anyway since I have some time to post before muting myself again for God knows how long.

I've recently came across a debate on Twitter (I still can't get use to the whole X thing) on the topic of Tealive vs Chagee. Personally I think it's a weird debate to begin with since both represents different types of beverages. And even though I'm a fan of bubble teas, even I have to admit that Tealive beverages are overly sweet most of the time; which is why I was so glad that a Chagee franchise suddenly popped up at the T2 @ Apas commercial area (yes, it's another one of those below-radar-franchises for us Tawaurians) after having sips of their drinks in KK . I've tasted their Tie Guan Yin Coconut Tea, Watermelon Jasmine Tea, Fresh Orange Jasmine Tea, Jasmine Peach Tea, Da Hong Pao Pure Tea and Yunnan Puer Pure Tea on different occasions (and even ordered some of those though Foodpanda) and as of now, the latter was my fave. I never thought that I would enjoy a plain (but premium tasting) tea than anything else on the menu.

Mini Bean

Since we're on the topic of visiting beverages places, here's another long overdued post that should've been posted earlier if not for my mountainous workload.

Even though this place is more known for its soy based desserts such as soy beancurd (aka tofu fa)  and soy milk as well as smoothies and grass jelly desserts, it was their Jumbo Fruit Tea that made me come back several times to their place (which is located at Perdana Jaya Commercial area, visible from the nearby Bataras Hypermarket and right in front of a KFC branch) as the tea had a good mix of sweet and sour flavors that I like. And I did noticed that they have also expanded their menu to include food such as Thai Tomyam, Asam Laksa and Nyonya Curry Mee; something that I might like to try in the future.

Regiustea Kubota Sentral

I don't know why I kept forgetting to post this out even though it was sitting in my laptop for quite sometime now (not to mention getting them 'lost' twice due to my previous phone problems) so here they are...

I was already familiar with the franchise (from my previous KK tastings) but was genuinely surprised to see them here in Tawau at the Kubota Sentral area, right in front of a Tealive branch no less (they're not exactly on top of our franchise wishlist but still..). Nevertheless I obviously tried out the Tawau version of their drinks, among them the Regius Choco Cheese (an obvious choice for me) and Perfume Berry Peach, which is fast becoming my mom's fave as my mom loves the fragrant after taste. I've also tried their Burnt Cheese Cake (not in the pictures) and it was tasty. Let's hope that they would be able to last longer here in Tawau since bubble tea stores seems to be (in the words of the great Taylor Swift) 'out-of-style' as of late.
