Ice Cream Alley (KK FoodieVenture #238)

My mouth (and stomach) were still feeling the burn from my previous lunch so I needed something to cool down. Well.. That's the excuse I'm giving myself anyway. So as me and hubby were walking towards our parked car, my eyes caught sight of this particular ice-cream store (still located on the ground floor of Plaza 333, Penampang) nearby. We decided to check them out and it turns out that the place provides a wide range of gelatos (yep, surprisingly not ice cream) and of course I wasted no time in trying out their Chocolate and Chocoberry flavours. I really like the fact that the gelatos were not overly sweet and were quite refreshing. Plus, you can add your own toppings (like literally put them on your own) and not to mention that the place is an absolute heaven for kids (what with the mini arcade and kids jungle and all). Overall it was an absolute treat (pun intended) for us and we will probably try out their other menu items (ranges from pastas, waffles, hotdogs and what not) should we're in town.

Mak Enon by Rainbow Pan KK (KK FoodieVenture #237)

Me and hubby were initially lured in by the enticing looking ad board (located on the 1st floor, within the backside row of Plaza 333, Penampang by the way) which featured 2 Buginese faves, the buras (yes, I'm calling it THE buras) and barobok (congee like dish but with corns in them) but both were unavailable. So we had no choice but to choose Coto Makassar & Nasi Goreng Jawa Ayam Penyet with an extra helping of Sambal Tempe instead. All dishes were actually delicious but more on the spicier side (especially for an average level spice tolerance person like me). But we were still very satisfied with the food and the auntie owner's (we presume) warm hospitality. Menu items were mainly of Indo-Malay dishes but emphasising more on the former than the latter.

DuluKita Gaya Street (KK FoodieVenture #236)

Trust me when I say that I have seen countless people reviewing this newly opened Peninsular Malaysia originated franchise from numerous social media outlets and obviously it piqued my interest. Though the overall concept doesn't differ much from the kopitiam trend nowadays, I like the fact that this eatery included childhood esthetics within their outlet (such as that nostalgic, playable Mario Bros game console on top of their counter). Menu was also quite extensive, with us picking out their viraled Nasi Goreng Kampung and Mee Soto which was surprisingly delicious. The fried rice was especially flavourful and is currently my hubby's fave. We also tried out their unique Nyor Goreng (aka fried coconut meat) and it was weird tasting at first but it got better after a few bites. Okay la I guess... 😅 Oh and before I forgot, they're located at Gaya Street, right in front of Suria Sabah Shopping Mall.

Chunk & Dunk ITCC (KK FoodieVenture #235)

 Although I admit that it was their Imago Mall kiosk that had gotten my initial attention since people seems to be flocking to the place like nobody's business, I've decided (numerous times mind you) not to blindly join the lineup since I have no idea what their menu is about. That is until I checked out their FB page (yup, such an old geezer right?) and found myself drooling over their well-promoted Chunkie's Chocolate in Paris drink slash dip. Unfortunately said drink can only be found at their other branches so I wasted no time in ordering one from their ITCC Mall outlet (on the ground floor, within the main centre area) and man, it was worth it. I can only describe it as very strong and thick (and I mean VERY THICK) in terms of its chocolate taste and content and I'm all for it. Highly recommended to take it while it is still hot. And yes, since the franchise actual main products are their assorted croffles, we decided to go for their Box of 4 (but with only 2 variations available at said time which were the Lotus Biscoff and Milk Chocolate) and both were commendable and obviously very sweet.

1901 Centre Point (KK FoodieVenture #234)

 I was somewhat surprised to find this franchised American hotdog inspired kiosk as me and my hubby were walking around the Food Eden court on the 5th floor of Centre Point Shopping Mall (adjoining to the Growball Cineplex). It's been years (and I mean YEARS) since I had one from this franchise so we decided to ordered their Mighty Mubarak Wrap and Coney Chicken Dog on the spot. Honestly speaking, I can't exactly recall the taste of said hotdog from before but the one that I've tried was pretty satisfying (even though the sauce was a bit runny). The wrap that my hubby had was also pretty good, kind of like the wrap version of the latter (well obviously right?). Not great or anything but still very yummy. Wouldn't mind ordering them again in the future now that I've found them.
