U-Tea Tawau 2.0

Here's a quick update on this bubble tea franchise (located within Kubota Sentral). They'd only introduced in-house meals sometime during the MCO (or a little before it started if I'm not mistaken) so now you can have tasty food together with their drinks. The Sweet & Sour Chicken Rice and Grilled Chicken Burger that me and my husband had were definitely delicious although it does took a bit of a time to be prepared so do be warned.

Also do check out my previous featured posts on bubble tea shops around Tawau..

Sizzle Coffee House

My husband rarely read my blog so it was quite a surprise when he commented yesterday that he thought that I purposely put off posting about this cafe, just because it was on the next housing area as ours. To which I'm clarifying right now that it is not true; it's just that I tend to overlook places that are nearer to us (yeah i know.. potato potato..).

We've been to this cafe often due to my parent's fondness in dining at eateries that were near to our house (they're located on the single row of shops at Ria Heights - on the same row as W&Z Cafe 3). The food in general are a hit-or-miss; it was very tasty most of the time but other times it can also be err.. 'non-satisfying'. We had tried various dishes (as seen below) but they did revamped their menu recently so some of the food might still be available and vice versa (sorry, I continuously forgot to snap their latest menu). But nevertheless my father seems to love their Nasi Ikan Boulu Goreng so much that even the waitresses know his 'usual' dish whenever we went there.

Onebucks Cafe (Version 3.0)

I never thought that I would be posting a third update on this cafe but here were are. It just goes to show that the eatery has been doing something right and it'd managed to flourished amidst the post MCO period (click HERE and HERE for my previous posts on the cafe).

So I wouldn't been commenting much on the cafe itself, other than that they have now relocated fully to the Bazhong commercial area (the front row, facing the sea). And that their menu has been updated even further with the likes of western and korean staple food, as well as broader choices for local dishes. We had their Nasi Goreng Lalap and Nasi Goreng Seafood (if I'm not mistaken since it was quite awhile that both me and my husband went to the cafe - as evident from the pics below) and both were palatable but nothing too outstanding I'm afraid. And their drink was yet again, just so-so for me. But the cafe remains popular amongst locals so it might just be my taste buds that has gone awry.

Teppanya Cafe & Bar Plaza 333 (KK FoodieVenture #187)

Another one of my favourite places to explore a good variety of food in KK (that doesn't include the downtown area) has got to be the Plaza 333, Donggongon commercial area. I even felt somewhat 'at home' whenever I went there. So this time around we tried out the Teppanya Cafe & Bar and I must say that I was impressed. The Japanese fusion restaurant is visible when you entered the main road into the commercial area but parking can be quite challenging especially during peak hours. Looking at the hot plate dishes that other customers have ordered upon entry, it was a no brainer for me to ordered their Teriyaki Chicken Rice and I thought it tasted delicious (despite the tongue burning effect of the hot plate). My dear husband was not in the mood for such dishes so he decided to have several side dishes, namely their Onion Rings, Takoyaki, Crisscut Fries and Garlic Fried Rice and he liked them enough to cleared those dishes. Their Dark Chocolate Brownie ice blended drink was also pretty good I might add.

*FYI, these are only part of their menu (as their actually had a more extensive list than what I have shown below)...

MAMAM Thai (KK FoodieVenture #186)

I initially have zero expectations when visiting this Thai fusion eatery (nested right in the middle row of the already crowded Lintas Square commercial area) since I don't exactly had that many experience when it comes to Thai cuisine. So me and my husband pretty much ordered anything that looks good on the menu, which eventually came down to their Signature Thai Rice set (that includes white rice, 3 side dishes of vegetables & fruits), Sweet & Sour Sliced Fish and Salted Egg Chicken. We did thought of ordering some tomyam (because we were in a Thai restaurant after all) but decided not to because both of us were just not in the mood for it at said time. All of the dishes that we had were actually quite commendable, with my personal favourite being the latter chicken dish.

Asiarasa Cafe (KK FoodieVenture #185)

We honestly had no idea where to grab our lunch when we were roaming the Karamunsing Capital area this time around. After several minutes of trying to find a parking spot, we finally found one near to this particular eatery (they're located within the roofed, middle row of the shops) so we decided to just try them out.

We were there around half past noon but most of their food trays were already almost emptied. But since my partner was famished, he pretty much took whatever were still available and he said that his Nasi Campur was pretty good. I did took a few scoops of different 'lauk' as well and I do agree that their pre-prepared dishes were quite tasty (which might also explains why their food almost ran out well before lunchtime). I'd also ordered their Fried Meehoon and it was okay tasting. I would also like to add that I found their whole nostalgic 'oldies' decor on the walls pretty  interesting.
