Cafe TATU & Cool Box Ice Cream Bar (KK FoodieVenture #184)

And here's an equally short write-up of the previously mentioned resort's ground floor level Cafe TATU (of which we had our lovely free breakfasts despite a very hectic morning at the premise - I mean just imagined all of the hotel's guests converging at the same place for breakfast). The variety of food were pretty impressive and the staff were fairly quick to refill empty trays, although drinks selections were quite limited. Also it is good to note that the resort actually has a total of 6 eateries within its premise, including the Cool Box Ice Cream Bar that we'd stopped by while exploring the hotel's grounds.

Outward Vacay: Shangri-La Tanjung Aru Resort

Me and my husband went to KK recently for a quick R&R, as well as to celebrate his birthday. So for his special day, we decided to splurge a bit and stayed at the Shangri-La Tanjung Aru Resort for a day (FYI they're located at the far end of the popular Tanjung Aru beach area so vehicles or Grab are a must to reach said place). And thinking back, it was literally one of the most memorable experiences in our lives. Living up to its 5-star reputation, everything from the staff to the room and other facilities were just top notch. I'm not even going to write an unnecessary lengthy post as we were both very satisfied with our (short) stay and if our wallets permits it in the future, we might decide to drop by again (so note to self - work harder to 'kumpul' those moolah babe) 

Type - Kinabalu King Room with Seaview 

Room - 5/5 (very comfortable and the view was just lovely) 

Price - 4/5 (definitely on the expensive side) 

Service - 5/5 (staff were friendly and courteous to everyone) 

Decor - 4/5 (dated designs but pretty well maintained) 

Facilities - 5/5 (a large place with lots of activities for everyone) 

Location - 5/5 (what is more perfect than a great place overlooking the beautiful sea right?)

Renz Hazel 2.0

It is always good to see an originally small food business evolved into a bigger one in a span of a few years. And it is even more impressive when said business had survived the 'MCO crisis' and is still open for business till this day. 

So I was glad to see that this eatery has been thriving ever since they moved from their previously small, secluded place to a more central area within the Fajar Complex (they located on the same row as Pizza Hut). Their menu items has since grown as well and their overall portioning has improved tremendously. Some of the food that me and husband had tried a few times that we were there might need some minor tuning in terms of taste (as they can be a bit salty) but nevertheless they were still pretty tasty. The other fried munchies were just your typical, average tasting bites but I do like that they did their own coleslaw, which tasted nice despite the mayonnaise overload. Definitely a good choice if you are in the mood for some locally prepared western food.
