Nando's Suria Sabah (KK FoodieVenture #223)

I kid you not when I say that the last time I went to any Nando's franchise was around 6 years ago. So I didn't object when my hubby suggested that we tried the Suria Sabah shopping mall branch of said food chain (they'd just opened a branch on the ground floor of said mall, near to the Grandis Hotel entrance). It was quite a long time since we'd last ordered so we did struggled a bit trying to remember just how to get our orders in using the ever modern QR code system but in the end, we ended up with their 1/4 Chicken with 2 sides, PERi-honey Yuzu Wings and an extra helping of Mediterranean Rice to go with my hubby's wings. The dishes were okay I guess, which explains why I didn't visit this franchise for years; it doesn't exactly left a deep impression on me. Their ever popular sauces were okay as well but has it always been that sour though?

Outward Vacay: ATAP Hotel KK

Sigh.. Yeah I know, at this point I should have just renamed this blog to KK FoodieVenture for the amount of posts that I have on the district 😅😂

Alas, here's another entry from KK (as I've recently  frequently went to and fro for work purposes) where I've stayed at a boutique hotel right in the middle of Gaya Street. And when I say middle, they're really located smack in the middle of all the Gaya Street weekend activities so if you wish to roam around the Api Api Nightmatket and Sunday Market than this is the place for you. 

I remembered this hotel being refurbished and renamed sometime in the recent years, so the room that we've gotten were pretty decent & clean. Even though the room might be on the smaller side, but at least we were given a corner room overlooking the side street and their bathroom+shower were bigger than I thought it would be. A very chill place to stay at if they would just fixed the shower knob that kept falling everytime we had our showers. Also, parking might be a problem since they do not have any designated parkings and they're within a busy, prime spot for both weekdays and weekends. 

Type - Deluxe Queen

Room - 4/5 (decent but rather small) 

Price - 5/5 (very affordable - the main reason why we wanted to try them out in the first place) 

Service  - 4/5 (at least the check in process was really quick & hassle free) 

Decor - 4/5 (okay la but I did see some wear and tear here and there) 

Facilities -4/5 (at least they do have a lift going to the upper floors) 

Location - 5/5 (superb location during the weekends but maybe a tad boring & office-busy during

Flight Club KKIA (KK FoodieVenture #222)

Let's face it, there aren't that many choices of food when it comes to the Kota Kinabalu International Airport (KKIA) but they're getting there. Their recent edition includes this Plaza Premium Lounge franchise namely the Flight Club, the first one to be opened in East Malaysia. We had some time to kill during our most recent trip back to Tawau so we decided to give them a go. The seating area felt very premium (duh!) and secluded from others which was nice for privacy. Their menu were also quite simple so we tried their Roti Canai with Chicken Curry and All Day Breakfast and both were commendable but nothing noteworthy. But we'll definitely be back in the future should we wanted some time to ourselves as the lounge like area was indeed very relaxing.

1863 Patisserie & Cafe (KK FoodieVenture #221)

My hubby's (small) birthday celebration in KK doesn't stop with our brief visit to Precious Bake, as we went for some afternoon tea at this place within the same area at Lintas Square (this time at the last row of the commercial area) and ordered ourselves some slices of cakes (namely Chocolate Crepe, Classic Chocolate and Burnt Cheese) as well as their Cocktail Chicken Sausages. And even though the cakes might not looked like it, there were some of the tastiest cakes that I've tried out. Not being biased at all (you'll understand why I mentioned this later) but their cakes were not overly sweet and very decadent. Plus we were really grateful to the cafe's owners for gifting my hubby with a free vanilla ice cream once they found out about his birthday. Such a memorable day indeed.

Precious Bake (KK FoodieVenture #220)

It was coincidentally my hubby's birthday when were in KK this time around and since he is no longer impressed by Baskin Robbins's ice cream cakes (since he had a somewhat bad experience with them a few years back) I decided to get him this locally viraled and newly opened specialty cheesecake shop (located at Lintas Square, on the same row as Maybank). As you can see from their menu below, they mainly baked mini cheesecakes with your choice of toppings. I chose their Biscoff, Chocolate and Chunky Peanut butter for mine and they were all lovely. The cheesecakes themselves were quite strongly tastes (in terms of cheese) but thankfully it did not overwhelmed the toppings so my hubby still loved them (and was pleasantly surprised by the idea of mini cheesecakes as birthday cakes).
