Outward Vacay: Borneo Beach Villas

Wow just realized that I didn't update anything at all last month. I blamed it on work & the flu that I had all throughout the month. And also a 'tinge' of laziness of course. But I'm back at it now and here are my updates on my KK-Sandakan trips back in late Dec till sometime last month. And yes, some of the pics might be a bit 'dated' (what with the obvious Xmas/CNY decor) but just pretend not to notice that ya 😅

The first is my 2 nights stay at the Borneo Beach Villas in edge-of-town Karambunai. I had always wanted to stay at this place at least once due to their inviting look and close proximity to a private beach (via numerous posts by friends). The villas were once under the Nexus Resort & Spa Karambunai management but has now been privately owned by smaller managements (which includes another nearby place called Sabah Beach Villas & Suites) and even individuals who then proceed to rent out their villas.

Our villa was smack in the middle of the area and walkable to a small beach. It was a two bedroom villa with full amenities including kitchenware and clean lap pools. It was definitely a place to unwind as the location is quite a distance from the KK town area. And on that note, you should really stocked up on food supplies (if you guys wish to cook) before entering the premise as there are no mini markets of sorts nearby. But they do have a cafe within the premise so you won't starved. Plus the management also manages an apartment complex within the same area so you are also free to use their facilities which includes a restaurant and an actual pool. Although our stay were lovely & relaxing, I do take issue with the overall  maintenance of the villa as wear and tear were visible throughout the villa. And even though we did not experience it during our stay, other patrons has complained about water shortage from time to time and the lack of security within the premise itself (the open area concept means that other patrons can walk by your villa at any time of the day).

Type - Two-bedroom Seaview Pool Villa

Room - 4/5 (would be even more perfect with proper maintenance)

Price - 4/5 (price was definitely steep especially during the holidays)

Service - 4/5 (minimal services were given during the actual stay as to give you privacy but you can still contact them anytime for anything)

Decor - 4/5 (lovely but has seen better days)

Facilities - 5/5 (you can also park your car right in front of your villa)

Location - 5/5 (if you're looking for some peace and quiet to relax than this is definitely the place for you)
