Just a few moments after I bought the delicious bubble tea
from Majeztea, my partner decided
that he is going to have his daily dose of Liang Sandwich (see my previous post to further understand his then
‘obsession’ with the ‘roti canai’ like
franchise) which also has a branch within the Lintas Plaza (right beside the Lintas View Hotel). And what happens to
be sharing the same shoplot with the latter? Yup, another bubble tea store that
I instantly decided that I must also give a try (don’t mind my little ‘bubble
tea crazed’ here folks). The local brand (I think) isn’t exactly a bubble tea
specialty shop as it also has other types of beverages within their menu. And
since they also do not have any chocolate flavoured bubble tea, I opted instead
to try out their Chocolate Frappuccino, which comes in a reusable, pretty looking
bottle. The drink was refreshing but only tasted average at best. But I do
admit that my taste bud might be slightly ‘impaired’ that day because of the
previous drink that I had (and preferred more).
Like I’ve previously mentioned in my other post, I had this sudden craving for bubble teas during the
first day of the Movement Control Order (MCO) and since we were already within
the Lintas Plaza area (at Jalan Lintas), I thought why not I try out this MajezTea drink that I've heard so much about? Mind you, the area also houses
a couple of other big name bubble tea franchises that I honestly didn’t
know about until after I left the area (and foolishly Googled about them then).
There aren’t that many customers around during said time
(most probably due to the MCO) but I also noticed around 3 to 4 Foodpanda
riders were waiting for their orders as I was waiting for my takeaway drink
(which to me is a good indicator of the quality of their drinks). I also like
that the young man manning the register was a friendly chap that recommended me
their Cocoreo (since I can’t find any chocolate variety within
their existing menu). And you know what? The drink was definitely superior in terms of
taste as it was creamy, rich and dare I say, even better tasting than some of
my most recent reviews of other, more famous bubble tea brands in KK.
Coming back to the bubble tea shop that I initially want to
stop by before my previous post, it
was finally opened by the time we walk back to our parking space just a few
metres from said place. Now there are a substantial amount of bubble tea stores
clustering over the Plaza 333 commercial area (over at Jalan Pintas, Penampang)
but the buzz around this one is very hard to ignore. I mean, I read a lot of
reviews hailing this place as one of the top bubble tea brands in Malaysia (and
even beyond). So as I made my way to their counter and scanned their menu for
any chocolate flavoured drink, I was told by the cashier that it will take a
few minutes for my order to be ready which was fine by me. So I go ahead and
ordered their only chocolate choice (I think) which was the Brown Sugar Black
Whale Dark Choco and was given my order around 10 minutes or so after that. And
probably because my expectation for this drink was so high, I ended up
disappointed yet again. I mean, it wasn’t bad or anything, it was just that it
tasted very ordinary to me. Or did they gave me the wrong order since my drink
does not looked all colourful and appealing like the ones in their menu? Oh
well… At least I did give them a try right?
It was a day before the Movement Control Order started and
me and my partner found ourselves at the current ‘in’ place in KK which was the
Plaza 333 Kobusak Commercial Centre, at Jalan Pintas, Penampang. The reason why
we were there was because I was on a hunt for a popular bubble tea shop that
had just opened within the area. Unfortunately we’d arrived earlier than
expected so the place was still closed. So after parking our car and walking
along the area to buy some time, we ended up here – at yet another popular
bubble tea shop not far from the latter (yup, my love for bubble tea holds no
bounds).
The place is your typical modern café themed and Insta-worthy
outlet with cosy seating areas. Since we were their first customers for the
day, they gave us the bad news straight away; that most of their beverages
(particularly the ones that had pearls in them) will not be ready for a while
so I can’t order what I initially wanted (because they actually have a couple
of choco choices that I was interested in) and had to order their Signature
Chocolate Cheese instead. I admit that it was pretty good but nothing too
distinguishing I’m afraid. But I’ll definitely be back to try out the one that
‘got away’ from me some other time so stay tuned folks.
*Sorry for the minor 'editing' folks - gotta protect my name right? ;-)
There’s a funny story behind how I was finally able to
visit this bakery. Me and my partner were running an errand for his uncle on
the first day of the Movement Control Order within the Lintas Plaza
area, when my bubble tea cravings suddenly kicked in. As we were driving along
the area trying to look for a specific bubble tea shop (which you shall see in
my later post) my eyes caught a sight of this popular cake expert bakery and
literally demanded that my partner to stop (which made him go into a long rant
but it was worth it). I’m not too sure whether the place has a dine in area or
not due to the order but you will definitely be spoilt for choice when it comes
to their cakes. I have to remind myself not to take away too many of those
yummy goodies and finally decided to try out their Earl Grey Choco Cheez, Ms Hazel
and Royal Truffle cakes. While each cake has its own distinct flavours, my
favourite has got to be the latter as it tasted rich without being too
toothsome. I’ll definitely be back next time to try out some other delicious
looking cakes and pastries from this patisserie.
*So sorry for the reflection as I can't find a better angle to take this pic
