Our first makan
stop right after we’ve checked into our hotel was this place; smack in the middle of Gaya Street (and right next to Gaia 95
Hotel). As our hotel was within the area, we thought that we might as well find
a place for lunch nearby since we didn’t feel like going anywhere further. And
this place had previously caught my eyes when we went to the Gaya Street Night Food Market the last time we were in KK.
The eatery is adjoined to the aforementioned hotel and that
makes the dining place somewhat smaller than it originally is (because they
shared the same shop lot). But as we were given the menu, we noticed that their choices for Indonesian cuisine (a bit obvious judging from their name) were thankfully not as
small. So we decided to go with their Nasi Ayam Bakar Rica and Bakmi Ayam Bakar
Rica. While I do think that my dish (the latter) was lovely although a tad oily, my
partner commented that his was a bit bland tasting which was a surprise considering the outer look of said dish. We also ordered (and was initially forgotten
by the kitchen staff) their Tempe Orek and Perkedel and both were yummy but nothing too
distinguishing I’m afraid. Still, we were still pretty impressed with their food and came back for a second helping of their Bakmi Ayam Bakar and Nasi Kuning Ayam Bakar.
*FYI this is their Nasi Ayam Bakar Rica...
